Choose the Right Paper for Your Image

The choice of paper can significantly influence the appearance of a photograph. We offer five paper options ranging from traditional photographic surfaces to premium fine-art paper.

Gloss

A traditional glossy photographic surface with rich color, strong contrast, and excellent detail. Gloss works especially well for colorful photographs and images where vibrancy and sharpness are important.

Best for: colorful photographs, landscapes, travel, family photos, and images with strong contrast.

Satin

A smooth, semi-gloss surface that provides excellent color and detail with less glare than a traditional glossy print. Satin is a versatile choice for a wide range of photographs.

Best for: portraits, landscapes, travel photography, and general-purpose printing.

Matte

A non-reflective surface with a softer appearance and minimal glare. Matte works particularly well for photographs viewed under strong or uneven lighting and for images where a subdued finish is preferred.

Best for: portraits, black-and-white images, artwork, and prints displayed in bright environments.

Metallic

A distinctive surface that can give photographs added depth, brilliance, and a luminous appearance. It is particularly effective with highly saturated colors, dramatic lighting, reflections, and high-contrast images.

Best for: landscapes, cityscapes, automotive photography, night photography, and vivid, high-contrast images.

Baryta Fine Art

Our premium fine-art option. Baryta paper combines the appearance and feel associated with traditional darkroom papers with the advantages of modern pigment printing. It offers excellent tonal range, fine detail, deep blacks, and a refined surface.

Best for: fine-art photography, black-and-white photographs, exhibition prints, and images where maximum tonal detail and presentation quality are desired.

How We Prepare Your Images

Every image is different, so we review submitted files before printing.

We check the image dimensions, resolution, aspect ratio, and requested print size. If the proportions of your image don’t match the selected print size, cropping may be required. We will avoid making a significant crop without your approval.

If we identify a concern that could noticeably affect print quality, we’ll contact you before printing.

Preparing Your Files

For the best results, submit the highest-quality version of your image available. JPEG and TIFF files are preferred.

Avoid resizing or compressing your image simply to reduce the file size. The original full-resolution file usually gives us the most flexibility when preparing your print.

If you’re unsure whether your image has sufficient resolution for the print size you want, send us the file and we’ll be happy to evaluate it.

Prints With Borders

Prints can be produced with or without a border. If you would like a border, specify the desired border width and color in your order details.

Professional Printing Technology

Our prints are produced in-house using Canon professional printing technology with the 11-color LUCIA PRO pigment ink system and Chroma Optimizer.

The expanded ink set provides a wide color gamut, smooth tonal transitions, fine detail, and strong reproduction of both color and black-and-white photographs.

We use paper-specific color profiles to help produce consistent, accurate results across the different photographic papers we offer.
