Old Photo Restoration

Old photographs capture moments, people, and places that cannot be replaced. Over time, they may fade, discolor, become scratched, or suffer physical damage.

At 24DIGI, we restore old and damaged photographs using digital editing techniques tailored to each image. All restoration work is performed in-house in Liberty Township, Ohio, serving customers throughout the Cincinnati–Dayton area.

Every photograph presents different challenges. Some require only minor adjustments, while others need extensive reconstruction, color correction, or careful removal of damage.

The examples below demonstrate how digital restoration can recover detail, improve appearance, and bring new life to treasured photographs.

We offer digital restoration and enhancement for photographs affected by age, handling, storage conditions, and physical damage.

Depending on the condition of the original image, restoration may include:

  • Fading and discoloration: Improving contrast, tonal balance, and color.
  • Dust, spots, and scratches: Removing visible defects from the digital image.
  • Creases and tears: Digitally repairing damaged areas when sufficient image information is available.
  • Missing or damaged details: Carefully reconstructing portions of an image where feasible.
  • Black-and-white photographs: Improving tonal range and detail or adding color when requested.
  • Image preparation: Adjusting resolution, cropping, and aspect ratio for printing or framing.

Each photograph is evaluated individually. The extent of restoration depends on the original image quality, the severity of the damage, and the amount of detail available.

We don’t rely on automatic corrections alone. Restoration techniques are selected according to the specific needs of each photograph.
